The context of urban rivers is one pollution their courses, the degradation riparian habitats, loss biodiversity, and marginalization human populations that live next to them. Due growth, hydrological dynamics in entire basins hydromorphology are changing. This situation increases flooding, decreases availability water for use, disconnects from city. Agroforestry integration cultural, wild, domesticated diversity with conservation, restoration objectives. These practices cities can contribute addressing problems mentioned. We analyze agroforestry socio-ecological contributions river rehabilitation. review 37 experiences worldwide. included trees hedgerows; wetland agroforestry; aquatic, botanical, edible, educational, rain gardens; bioswales; green parking lots; food forestry; vegetation alleys streets; vertical terrace walls, among others. contributes efforts solve problems, improve quality access, restore enhance hydromorphology, support local economies, create a culture. emphasize promoting multi-relational people–river interactions based on theoretical practical frameworks integrate diverse disciplines, perspectives, experiences.
